Responsibilities
As a Home Caregiver, your responsibilities include the following:
- Providing day-to-day care for up to five tamariki in a home provided by Oranga Tamariki
- Creating a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment
- Supporting tamariki with daily routines, meals, homework, and activities
- Transporting tamariki to school, appointments, and community activities
- Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and healthy development
- Supporting tamariki to maintain important connections with their whānau
- Working closely with social workers and the wider care team
- Maintaining household routines during live-in periods

Requirements

- Ability to remain calm and supportive during challenging situations
- Strong relationship-building skills with tamariki and their whānau
- Respect for diverse cultures, with a strong understanding of Māori values, traditions, and perspectives
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and supervision

- Positive, strengths-based outlook
- Ability to pass required background checks (police and medical)
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence
