Job Description
Verkerks is seeking a friendly, reliable, and motivated Retail and Butchery Assistant to join our Factory Shop team in Papanui, Christchurch. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity ideal for individuals who enjoy customer service, hands-on work, and being part of a supportive, family-owned business. Full training will be provided, with previous retail or butchery experience considered an advantage.

Responsibilities
As a Retail and Butchery Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing friendly and professional customer service
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and welcoming shop environment
- Weighing, pricing, and displaying products accurately
- Operating the cash register, including cash handling and reconciliation
- Assisting with stock control, rotation of chilled products, and stock ordering
- Opening and closing the shop and preparing for daily trading
- Completing order processing and basic data entry tasks
- Assisting in the butchery with preparation of meat for retail sale
- Following food safety, hygiene, and workplace health & safety procedures

Requirements
