Roles & Responsibilities

As a Welder, your duties will include:

  • Interpreting welding process specifications and technical documents
  • Reading and understanding blueprints, drawings, manuals, and procedures
  • Operating manual, semi-automatic, and automated welding equipment
  • Performing shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
  • Examining completed welds to ensure they meet required standards
  • Operating flame-cutting and brazing equipment
  • Fitting, brazing, and torch-straightening metal components
  • Determining weldability of materials such as aluminum alloys and steel
  • Performing minor repairs and adjustments on welding and related equipment
  • Diagnosing equipment faults using computerized and testing tools
  • Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper performance
  • Performing repair work on heavy trucks and industrial machinery
